And May the Odds...

Be ever in your favor!!! Gah, tonight is the release of The Hunger Games movie and I have literally turned into a crazy fangirl! Of course, a month ago I pre-ordered our tickets for tonight's 11:59 showing at the theater. Midnight can't come fast enough!!

This whole awesome event is taking me on a trip down memory lane. About three or so years ago, my dear friend Karli said to me, "Cai, there's this book. It's called The Hunger Games. You have to read it." Her tone was dead serious. So the next time I went to the bookstore (which, if you know me, is at least once a week), I picked up my copy of The Hunger Games. And took it home. And neglected the rest of my life until five o'clock the next morning when I finished it. And then, my mind was blown.

If you have read The Hunger Games, perhaps you know the feeling? In all honesty, it is one of the greatest books I have ever read and from then on, it's had a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf. And yes, I acknowledge the fact that the idea of sending 24 young teenagers into an arena of death sounds terrible. It is terrible. But maybe that's why it's the most different, interesting, and heart-wrenching story I have read in a long time.

This week, my friend Nikki and I have been rereading The Hunger Games to psych ourselves up even more (is that even possible?) for the movie. I have about twenty pages that I have saved to finish today. I am surprised that every time I read this book, it still makes me feel those intense emotions of shock, anger, and happiness. This book really is an emotional roller coaster and I love it even more every time I read it. And oh, by the way, Peeta is awesome.

Yesterday, I bought The Hunger Games Soundtrack. There are some awesome songs on this album. Some of my favorites are "Eyes Open", "Safe & Sound", "Dark Days", "Kingdom Come", "Come Away to the Water", and "Run Daddy Run". I have been listening to the whole thing on shuffle all day. :)

So today, since I am fangirling like mad, I did Hunger Games inspired make-up. Just for fun. I used golds, yellows, and browns, since those colors remind of Katniss, the girl on fire. And then this morning, I picked up our tickets (just to make sure they were safe). I had a little freak-out-in-excitement moment. :) Seriously, I am dying for tonight to come.

Happy Hunger Games, everyone!

Yours,
Cait
